Devo really went crazy as a pioneer of the music videos that began in the early 80s with "Whip It", a highly synthesized piece of pop art that paved the way for many other groups and their sounds during the decade.
As groundbreaking as they were, they probably wouldn't be a logical choice to cover a song designed to protest the Kent State University shooting in 1971. Would they?

So was it a surprise when he recorded a version of the 80s hit single "Shock the Monkey", a song originally sung by Peter Gabriel, a London native and former lead singer of the band Genesis until he launched a solo career?
